New music from A Perfect Circle is very imminent. Just a month ago, the group released their first new song in four years with "The Doomed," as well as confirming that a new album will be arriving in 2018. Now, they're building on top of the song with a brand new video for "The Doomed."

There aren't many frills for the new video, but instead it does provide a rather stark image of the band to go along with the music. The frame centers on each member of the group as they stare intensely into the camera in a black and white frame. In a strange way, them not doing anything makes the song feel more serious and effective, with the band asking you to pull meaning directly from the music and the human space they present with the visual. After individual inspection, the clip ends centered on the group as a whole, all intently staring.

Of "The Doomed," frontman Maynard James Keenan said, “Fourteen years have passed since we released eMOTIVe. A new release is long overdue. In light of this current difficult and polarized social, spiritual and political climate, we artist types need to open our big mouths and share the light a little louder.”

“Years of life experience has brought our music to this moment,” adds guitarist Billy Howerdel. “We know where we came from. Deeply connected to the path we’re on.”

The band has also been in the news lately for a very strict no cell-phone policy at their recent concerts, where some fans were even ejected for recording. Howerdel defended the band's position in an interview with the Montreal Gazette, saying, "First of all, it's just rude. Putting up a phone in front of someone's face so they get to watch the show through it? Getting a memento of the show — sure, I've done it myself. But then you ask, 'What am I gonna do with this?'

He continued, "The other point is, people talking about the show is so much more powerful. We're inundated with videos and images, and getting back to a campfire conversation, letting people express how they felt in the experience — it says something more. And it speaks to, what does the music mean to you, and how do you want to tether it to your experiences in your life?" To see where the band is playing next, head to their website.
