Leave it to Aaron Lewis to keep us guessing on a Staind reunion. While the singer's signature alt-metal outfit has gotten back together as recently as 2017, Lewis recently hinted that more Staind shows could happen this year.

The musician floated the idea past concertgoers at his solo gig in Oklahoma City this past Saturday (March 9), the tease coming the same night Lews again walked offstage after the audience members refused to be quiet.

"So what if I told you that Staind is coming back next year?" Lewis is heard imploring the crowd in the below video. "I might be lying, but I might not. There might even be live shows this year. I can't say for sure. You never know."

Staind found success in the early 2000s with hits like "It's Been Awhile" and "Outside," the latter of which got a boost from Limp Bizkit's Fred Durst when he appeared alongside Lewis in a live version of the "Outside" music video.

These days, however, the Staind founder turned country crooner still catches up with Durst for some friendly advice, all while praising the Limp Bizkit figurehead for putting his band on the map in the first place, he says.

"Fred’s the whole reason I’m sitting in front of you tonight," Lewis told a concert audience Virginia Beach, Va., last month. "And I gotta say, that at this point in my life I call Fred when I need like Dalai Lama advice, for real."

The musician's comments on a Staind reunion seemingly stand in contrast to his previous opinions of the band's live career. Two years ago, he told 104.9 The Surf that the "touring machine, as you call it, of Staind will never be again."

He continued, "Not like that, no. Never, never. I could never go back to playing six shows [a week], eight weeks in a row. I can't do that. I have grown in my age and become very accustomed to playing Thursday, Friday and Saturday and being able to go home for a few days and unwind and try to kind of have a life aside from doing this."

Catch Lewis on tour now. His third country solo record, State I'm In, arrives April 12.
