Cursed Hudson Valley Castle Hits Market Following 2022 Fire

This lower Hudson Valley castle, which has been abandoned for decades has been rumored to be both cursed and haunted.

The custom built castle, named Edna after the Abercrombie children, was constructed in the 1920's by the famous family whose name is behind the popular clothing brand. Shortly after it was built, several deaths in the family occurred, two of the children, along with David T. Abercrombie (brand co-founder) himself.

In February of 2022, the castle went on the market for a cool $3.1 million, but tragedy struck once again not long after.

April 2022 Fire Rips Through Abandoned Abercrombie Castle

On Sunday April 17, 2022, not long after it was listed for sale, a structure fire was reported on Route 134, Croton Dam Road, at the site of the Edna Castle, though the residence was vacant.

The Croton-On-Hudson Fire Department reported that crews were on scene for more than three hours extinguishing the fire that had spread to all floors of the abandoned castle.

Abercrombie's 'Edna' Castle Hits Market, Again

Just about two years following the most recent stint on the real estate market, and just shy of two years since the fire that ripped through the castle ruins the Ossining castle is back on the market at a reduced price.

From $3.1 million dollars in 2022, followed by a destructive fire, Edna Castle has now been listed for $2.9 million, and could use a little....love and attention?

The first line of the current zillow listing informs interested buyers (or nosy community members) not to access the property, as 'THERE ARE SURVEILLANCE CAMERAS, OWNERS WILL CALL THE POLICE.'

Noting the castle is set on 49.6 acres, including tree tax lots, the four bedroom, five bath castle and barn 'is in need of total renovation.'

Property has 2 structures 1/original stone mansion and 1/barn both uninhabitable.

Other 'remaining' features include an open patio with fireplace, and cast iron spiral staircase leading to the tower.
