What to Know about the Hudson Valley Garlic Festival

The outpouring of information came after a simple question was posted to a local Facebook community page. "After years of stuff getting in the way, I’m finally able to go to the Garlic Festival", a Saugerties, NY resident wrote. "What do I need to know?". As it turns out, there's plenty.

Hudson Valley Garlic Festival Fact #2: Know Where to Eat

There are specialty vendors across the festival, but locals know which tents have the best food. "Don’t miss famous Garlic Chowder from the boy scouts", said one festival regular. "Stone Pony [has the] best wraps chicken, pulled pork or vegetarian portobello mushroom EVER!", added another. "Garlic burgers at the Elks booth!" came a third suggestion.

Hudson Valley Garlic Festival Fact #3: Your Plan Determines Your Experience

Many comments mentioned the price of admission ($15 at the gate for people over 12) and the vendors who also charge premium prices. Add the crowds and potentially limited parking, and an underprepared visit could quickly go south. Knowing what to expect and coming prepared can be the difference between a bad experience and a stellar weekend.
