All the Goose Island Bourbon County Releases for 2020

This year sucks but at least we can look forward to beer.

It's the most wonderful time of the year. No, not Christmas. It's about to be the annual release of the Goose Island Bourbon County line. Every year, Goose Island Beer Co releases their Bourbon County beer. These beers are bourbon-barrel-aged stouts. They come out every year on Black Friday. This is the 10th year Goose Island has made its Bourbon County beers. Believe it or not, Goose Island actually pioneered the method of bourbon barrel-aged beer, according to VinePair.

For 2020, there will be seven different Goose Island Bourbon County beers released. According to Goose Island, six of them are a bourbon-barrel-aged stout and the seventh is a wheat wine. The six stouts are named Birthday Bourbon County Stout, Anniversary Bourbon County Stout, Bourbon County Caramella Ale, Bourbon County Special #4, Proprietor’s Bourbon County Stout, Bourbon County Kentucky Fog Stout, and the traditional Bourbon County Stout.

Personally, I've only ever had the classic Bourbon County Stout. I'm no stout drinker by any means, but only a fool would say the Bourbon County Stout isn't incredible. According to Goose Island, the classic Bourbon County Stout has tasting notes of cocoa, fudge, vanilla, caramel, almond, leather, and tobacco.

If you're wondering how you can get Goose Island's Bourbon County stout line in the Hudson Valley, I have some good news. A few beer stores that I know of typically carry the beer. While I can't confirm anything for 2020, I know that Half Time and Beer World have both carried the Goose Island Bourbon County before. The beer is typically pricy compared to most craft beers and you're often limited for how much you can buy at retail stores.
