Apartment Complex Etiquette: Don’t Order Food Online and Then Go On Vacation
If you want someone in your apartment building to call the police and report the smell of a dead body it's probably best not to order a box full of perishable food and go on vacation for two weeks.
You can pick your friends but you can't pick your family. You can pick where you live but you either hit or miss big with your neighbors. When you move in to a new apartment complex you potentially have to deal with all sorts of people.
If you want to avoid any conflict it's best to just remember to be courteous. Don't play loud music late at night. Avoid throwing big parties and don't mess with people's parking spot. It's not hard to avoid drama in an apartment building if you all keep to yourselves.
There may be one more rule that might need to be added to the unwritten book this week.
My downstairs neighbor either ordered food or had food delivered to them as they while they were out on a two week vacation. Since they were downstairs no one in the building saw the box of edibles. It took us a week and a half to realize what the smell was. My wife called the property manager to check to see if someone died. Yes, it was that bad.
Has a neighbor ever done something to irritate or annoy you on purpose or by accident?
