Jimmy 'The Rev' Sullivan left a big drum kit to fill after his tragic death in 2009 but hopefully the third time is the charm!

During an interview last week Avenged Sevenfold frontman M. Shadows announced that longtime Bad Religion drummer Brooks Wackerman was now joinging the Avenged Sevenfold team.

Over the last few years there have been several attempts to replace 'The Rev'. First came drummer Mike Portnoy who was brought on to help finish out the bands fifth studio album Nightmare. Then came Arin Llejay who jumped on board in the middle of the bands touring. Llejay soon parted ways after the band said they needed something different.

“It just became increasingly difficult to be on the same page, not only touring, but with writing and just where we want to take things,” said Shadows. “ He adds, “It just got to the point where after Mayhem Festival last year, we had just decided to fire on all cylinders the way we want to, we needed to make a change."

Shadows tells Loudwire that the band had always been interested in Wackerman and even credits The Rev for actually introducing the band members to Wackerman’s playing. Shadows says some great things are in the work for the new album.
