Starting a run. It can be the easiest or the hardest thing you have to do all day. When it's easy to start, you don't need any encouragement.

But on those bad, or even slightly off days? Holy crud. It feels like your feet are in cement or you brain is packed in cotton, and you NEED a good song to get your ass in gear.

So what song is the one that gets you up off the coach, and into the best possible running mood?

You can't start off too fast, or with too much aggression. Not enough pep and you never really get in the best running mindset.

Personally, I try to stick to mellow pop-punk, or something in the general alternative arena, but lately I've been digging in to NOT overly uppity ska music. It's the right attitude and energy to get you in the zone.

And Rancid's Ruby Soho is KILLING it for me lately. Slow build, nice ramp to the chorus and a great bounce in the middle with the guitar solo.

So, what's your song?
