The largest traveling Vietnam Veterans Memorial has arrived in the Hudson Valley.

As part of a national tour, a three-quarter scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington D.C. will be showcased at the Riverfront Marina in Newburgh from Thursday until Sunday.

The Wall That Heals has been displayed at nearly 600 communities throughout the nation, spreading the Memorial's healing legacy to millions.

The goal of the wall is to allow communities to honor and remember those enshrined on the memorial in the comfort of familiar surroundings, officials say.

Another benefit of the memorial is it provides thousands of veterans who have a hard time going to the Washington D.C. memorial to begin the healing process, by seeing the wall near their homes, according to founders of The Wall That Heals.

The replica is 375 feet in length and stands 7.5 feet high at its tallest point. It's the largest traveling Vietnam Memorial Wall.

An opening ceremony will be held at the Newburgh Waterfront on Thursday from 9 to 11 a.m. The wall will be open all day and all night, rain or shine, until Sunday at 3 p.m. A closing ceremony is scheduled from noon to 2 p.m. on Sunday.

Pets are not allowed, photos and name rubbing will be permitted, officials say.
