As an elder millennial born in 1984, I’ve seen questionable fashion trends in the last 30 years or so, and some even come full circle.

Nothing could prepare me for Sunday Night Super Bowl Halftime Show.

After years of living in skinny jeans, I am now more ready for the return of flared and bootcut pants.

Seeing Kendrick Lamar rocking a pair of flared boot-cut Celine jeans was an awakening.

Lamar’s choice to wear flares on one of the biggest stages in entertainment wasn’t just a style decision—it was a statement.

His outfit,  curated by stylist Taylor McNeill, featured a custom Martine Rose letterman jacket and the now-iconic flared jeans—their wide-leg silhouette draping (and Dripping) over his sneakers.

The look balanced throwback cool and contemporary edge, proving that what was once old is new again.

I wasn’t alone. Social media lit up with reactions, from fans celebrating the resurgence of flared denim to skeptics still clutching their skinny jeans.

Fashion publications, including The Guardian, took note, highlighting Lamar’s bold aesthetic choice and its influence on current trends.

Searches for flared jeans reportedly spiked on fashion platforms, signaling a shift in consumer interest.

And if you thought flares were the only ’90s staple making a return, think again. JNCO jeans—yes, the ultra-wide denim of skate culture fame—are back in the mix, embraced by a new generation looking for bold, expressive fashion.

Love it or hate it, one thing is clear: The 90s are back, baby
