Top 6 Childhood “Celebration Restaurants” in The Hudson Valley
What Was the "Celebration Restaurant" Your Family Ate at For Special Occasions When You Were a Child?
We all have that celebration restaurant that we would go to for special occasions. Someone got a promotion? You go to that restaurant. Someone just won the science fair? You go to that restaurant. Out-of-town family members are in the area? You go to that restaurant. For my family, after school functions like concert, plays, or big games, we would stop at McDonald's across from Marist College for ice cream. That, or we would go to the Eveready Diner in Hyde Park. It helped that both of those places were open late! Not to mention, we were big fans of Friendly's in Poughkeepsie while it was still around! That, or Giacomo's in Spackenkill for after soccer practice and games.

We had a couple other go-to places, as well, depending on if we were meeting up with someone specific. If we were seeing my dad's parents, we would go to The New Windsor Coach or Steak & Stein in Newburgh. If we were seeing my mom's parents, we would go to Seasons or Charlie Brown's in Fishkill. Regardless, whether you may have realized it before or not, you and your family had at least go-to celebration restaurant.
