Child Support Payment Options Now Changing in Sullivan County
Child support can be a sensitive topic for discussion, and can often times be a source of controversy between two parties. A recent announcement and upcoming change from one county in the Hudson Valley having to do with child support payments is something that parties in that area will want to pay close attention to.

Child Support Statistics
According to data collected in 2021, 4.1 million parents received child support cash payments in 2021. The same research indicated that about 86% of parents who received cash child support payments had a legal or informal agreement in place with the child's other parent.
In New York State, according to NY.gov:
Income-withholding, or having money taken directly out of a paycheck, accounts for more than 70% of all child support collected in New York State. Self-employed or unemployed parents can make payments online or by mail.
Though there are standards across the state as far as how payments are calculated, there are differences, county by county, on how the actual payments are made and received.
