City Winery Opening New Concert Venue in Hudson Valley
An intimate concert venue and winery with locations in big cities across the country is opening up right here in the Hudson Valley.
City Winery currently has locations in New York, Boston, Chicago, Nashville, Washington D.C., Atlanta and Philadelphia. Soon, they will be adding Montgomery, NY to the list.
That's right, the famed chain of wineries that double as concert venues is opening up their newest location right on the Wallkill River. According to a release from Orange County Executive, Steven Neuhaus, City Winery has received over $1.6 million in state grants to not only open up a cafe, but also create a production facility that will supply their other venues across the country with their own wine.
City Winery was created by Michael Dorf, who is also the founder of the iconic Knitting Factory, one of New York’s longest running music venues. Dorf was in California and began to experiment with wine making. Soon, it became a passion and the idea of combining a music venue with a winery was born.
Worsted Mills, located at the end of Factory Street in Montgomery, will be the location of a winery, tasting room, cafe and concert venue. The historic 22 acres of land will be rehabilitated by City Winery and transformed into a tourist destination.
