The DEC claims a Hudson Valley religious camp dumped waste with no plans to remove it.

Recently an officer from the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation received a call from the Town of Bethel Code Enforcement Office regarding a local religious camp that had generated a large pile of solid waste on its property.

A DEC officer and a Bethel Code Enforcement Officer visited the camp and noticed a large pile of garbage that was discarded on the camp's property across the road from the main headquarters, officials say.

According to the DEC, the manager admitted that the camp was discarding garbage into the pile, with no plans of removal.

The camp was cited for the unlawful disposal of solid waste and operating a solid waste management facility without a permit. The camp was also issued violations by the code enforcement officer and advised that the garbage needed to be properly disposed of in dumpsters in the near future.
