How many firefighters does it take to free a local dog? According to photos, it looks like all of them.

Everybody loves a happy ending, and last week it was delivered by the Cronomer Valley Fire Department (CVFD) in Newburgh, NY. On Sunday, September 1st, first responders were called to a unique emergency, and it all had to do with an adorable dog named Champo.

Firefighters Help Dog in Newburgh, NY

"Meet Champo!", began a recent post from the CVFD. "Cronomer Valley was dispatched to a Dog stuck In a Chair on Vermont Drive. Car 1 arrived on scene to find a dog with its leg stuck in the leg of a chair", they continued. Photos (below) show that a dog can be just as careless as a human when it come to clumsy mistakes.

Cronomer Valley Fire Department Frees Dog in Newburgh, NY

Luckily for the distressed dog, first responders were ready for the task ahead. "Firefighters quickly went to work with multiple different man vs machine tools to perform a safe and painless extrication, and within minutes Champo was free without any injury", CVFD reported (below).

The comment section on the Cronomer Valley Fire Department's Facebook page was littered with praise from both Orange County, NY residents as well as from the dog's owners, who were effusive with their thanks after the harrowing ordeal.

"Thank you for helping my family and their dog", said one gracious comment. "I appreciate you guys so much!! [I don't know] how my boy got his foot in there but I’m glad you guys came to help him! Thank you", said another.

The local fire department also used the occasion to solicit for other aspiring first responders to join their ranks. "If this is something that might interest you, come down and see what we have to offer!", said the CVFD. "We will happily train you as well, come down on any Monday or Wednesday night!".
