New York Dog with Spectacular ‘Defect’ Is Finally Adopted
How do you know a dog is a good dog?
...Trick question; all dogs are good dogs.
Animal Shelters in New York State
In New York, there are thousands of dogs (as well as cats, bunnies, and other house pets) in shelters just waiting to be adopted. While every one of them deserves a loving home, some animals tend to stick out more than others.
Meet Tupac, the Upstate New York Shelter Puppy
One such animal was Tupac, a mixed-breed puppy who was recently rescued in upstate New York. He was part of an adorable litter that was found with some severe health issues (below).

The puppies (who seem to all be named after musicians, including Lil Jon and LL Cool J) needed to be treated for ringworm that had ravaged their skin. Aside from the treatable condition, Tupac stood out in another way as well.
Mission to Adopt Tupac, the Dog with an Extra Foot
"Someone come adopt Tupac!", the rescue organization recently posted on Facebook. "He has the sweetest personality and the most wonderful display of toe beans!". His "beans" (slang for the toe pads of animals for the uninitiated) are so special because there are so many of them (below).
Tupac the Shelter Puppy's Spectacular "Defect"
While most dog's feet contain 4 "toes" (as well as the extra dewclaw), Tupac has doubled up on one leg. As the Niagara SPCA put it, "He has a whole extra foot on his foot! 8 toes, folks. EIGHT!" (below).
If the post is any indication, Tupac's "double-foot" is anything but a defect. "A whole extra foot! What a cutie!", exclaimed one comment. "Omg that’s so cute but I’m charging extra per toe to cut his nails", joked a local groomer. The post must have worked, too, because Tupac is currently "on hold" for adoption.

The Niagara SPCA is located in Niagara Falls, NY, but there are SPCA organizations fostering animals available for adoption across New York State, including in Ulster and Dutchess counties in the Hudson Valley. Check out more adorable rescues below.
