Original Story

A major accident involving two tractor-trailer trucks shut down the New York State Thruway Monday afternoon. According to a representative from the New York State Thruway Authority, the incident occurred at 3:34PM and by 3:42PM and all lanes southbound were closed. The collision took place a few miles north of the Newburgh exit.

All lanes southbound remained closed as of 7:30 PM Monday night and a detour was in place. Anyone traveling southbound must exit the Thruway at exit 18 (New Paltz). The detour will take you down route 9W South, where you can take State Route 32 West to I-84. From there you can rejoin the Thruway and continue southbound.
