Employee Enters Correctional Facility With Over 400 Grams of Marijuana, Police Say
An employee at a Dutchess County correctional facility was arrested after entering the facility with a large amount of drugs.
State police from the Poughkeepsie barracks arrested Orianna V. Lord, 37 of Brooklyn, NY and charged her with Criminal Possession of Marijuana, a felony, Promoting Prison Contraband, a felony, and Promoting Prison Contraband in the 2nd Degree, a misdemeanor.
Lord, who is employed as correction officer at the Greenhaven Correctional Facility in Beekman, NY was arrested as a result a joint investigation conducted by the New York State Police and the Department of Corrections and Community Supervision Office of Special Investigations.
According to a press release, Lord entered Greenhaven Correctional Facility while possessing 460 grams of marijuana. She was found to possess the marijuana as supervisors conducted an unannounced screening of employees for contraband as they entered the prison for their scheduled shifts.
After entering the facility, Lord turn around and exited the building but was stopped by a DOCCS supervisor in the parking lot where she was found to be in possession of the marijuana.
Lord was arraigned and remanded to Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $25,000 cash bail, or $50,000 bond. She is due back in court at a later date.
