A large snake was found roaming the streets of the Hudson Valley.

The life of a police officer is rather unpredictable. Each shift an officer doesn’t know what they will encounter while on patrol. For example, this week Port Jervis Police received complaints about a large snake near Pennsylvania Avenue and Jersey Avenue, a very busy intersection in Port Jervis.

I’ll admit, snakes can be pretty scary. Recently there has been a number of sightings of venomous snakes roaming the Hudson Valley. Well, Port Jervis Police Officer Patrick Kerr showed no fear when he responded to the complaint about the snake.

Kerr found the 4-foot black snake and safely “took custody” of the reptile and turned it over to Carol Dubois, owner of Trinity Pet.

Of course, before handing over the snake Kerr posted for a picture of himself with the animal. The photo was posted by Port Jervis Police on their Facebook because as we all know, it’s not official until it's Facebook official!

Trinity Pet then graciously moved the snake from the busy Port Jervis intersection to a rural wooded area, for a new life, outside of the City of Port Jervis.

On their Facebook page, Trinity Pet posted video of the enormous and terrifying looking snake as they released the reptile back into the woods.

Job well done by all involved!
