A high-speed chase raced through two states, damaging police vehicles and ending right in front of eyewitnesses here in the Hudson Valley.

Times Herald Record reports that a man is facing criminal charges after leading police on a high speed chase through West Milford and The Town of Warwick on Tuesday.

The pursuit made its way to the Hudson Valley just before 1pm on September 6 when Warwick police were alerted to a Red Dodge Durango traveling from West Milford up the Warwick Turnpike.

After spotting the vehicle, two Warwick police vehicles turned on their lights in an attempt to pull over the suspect. Instead of stopping, police say the Durango plowed through the vehicles causing damage to the cruisers. Luckily there were no injuries to the responding officers.

Because the vehicle was racing down Route 94 towards the village, police decided not to engage in a high-speed pursuit, for fear of putting citizens at risk. They continued to follow the Durango until it eventually stopped on its own.

Video submitted to WPDH by Facebook user Ryan Widrick appears to show the end of the pursuit.

Police say the man voluntarily stopped the vehicle and threw his hands up in surrender, asking to be taken into custody because he was having heart problems. The suspect was taken for medical evaluation at St. Anthony's in Warwick and his identity has not yet been released by police. Authorities say the man could face criminal charges in both West Milford and Warwick.
