An advisory has been issued for a highly traveled area just off Route 9 in Fishkill in advance of a major paving project in the works.

The Fishkill Highway Supervisor, in advance of the project, has shared information that will impact drivers beginning as early as next week (just after Labor Day). Motorists should expect travel delays and disruptions on this highly traveled area of the village/town.

Village of Fishkill Paving Project

Fishkill Highway Superintendent Carmine Istvan, via the Town of Fishkill Highway Department Facebook page, shared information about an upcoming paving project that will impact both locals and the many who travel this area on a regular basis.

Weather permitting, beginning Wednesday, September 3rd, the Village of Fishkill will begin work on a paving project at the 'Village section of Merritt Boulevard' which runs from the intersection of Route 9 to the Village/Town line, which has been identified as just past the entrance to the Gap facilities off 9.

Those that travel this area of Fishkill should be advised that there will be travel delays and disruptions during the planned paving times. The Town of Fishkill Highway Department advises allowing yourself extra travel time, or, to avoid delays, a different route for planned travel in that area.

The paving project was noted as 'highly anticipated work' that impacts and effects both village and town residents in Fishkill. As expected, when announced on social media, notice of the work resulted in a great deal of appreciation and 'about time' comments for the needed repairs.
