Hear the Foo Fighters’ New Song, ‘The Line’
The Foo Fighters have released "The Line," the latest advance single from their forthcoming ninth studio album Concrete and Gold. The track, which you can listen to above, is available as an instant download with any pre-order before the album's Sept. 15 release date via Roswell-RCA.
Frontman Dave Grohl has described the song as "a search for hope in this day and age where you feel as if you’re fighting for your life with every passing moment, and everything is on the line."
"The Line" is the third preview of 11 total Concrete and Gold songs, following "The Sky Is a Neighborhood" (which featured a Grohl-directed video), and "Run" (a surprise June release that became a No. 1 hit on Billboard's mainstream rock charts). The latter earned the highest first-day streams of any single in the Foo Fighters' career.
Sept. 15 also sees the release of the animated rockumentary The Making of 'Concrete and Gold,' which discusses star turns by Paul McCartney and Justin Timberlake, amongst other things. The Foo Fighters then hit the road for a world tour, beginning on Oct. 7 with an appearance at the Cal Jam 17 festival in San Bernardino, Calif.
Timberlake appears to be the "biggest pop star" Grohl famously mentioned – but never identified – as a guest during these sessions. Other confirmed collaborators include Alison Mosshart of the Kills, Shawn Stockman of Boyz II Men and Inara George of the Bird and the Bee.
