Governor Kathy Hochul has initiated a statewide campaign aimed at encouraging New Yorkers to embrace outdoor activities and recreation this summer. As part of the “Get Offline, Get Outside” initiative, she announced free admission to several New York State Park pools, alongside other initiatives promoting health and wellness.

Promoting Outdoor Living and Recreation

At Riverbank State Park in New York City, Governor Hochul launched the “Get Offline, Get Outside” campaign, emphasizing the importance of physical activity and social engagement for families and individuals. The campaign encourages people to disconnect from digital devices and enjoy the benefits of outdoor life.

Free Pool Access Across New York State

As a significant part of the campaign, Governor Hochul announced the waiver of swimming pool entry fees at various State Parks for the remainder of the summer. This initiative aims to make recreational opportunities more accessible to families across the state, allowing them to cool off and enjoy the summer heat without financial barriers.


Sunscreen Pilot Program

In addition to free pool access, Governor Hochul introduced a pilot program offering free sunscreen at State Park pools. This program aims to promote sun safety and ensure that families can enjoy outdoor activities without compromising their health.

  • Hudson Valley: Bear Mountain State Park Pool, FDR State Park Pool, High Tor State Park Pool, Rockland Lake State Park Pool

  • Long Island: Jones Beach State Park West Bathhouse Pool, Montauk Downs State Park Pool
  • Capital Region: Saratoga Spa State Park Pools (Peerless and Victoria)
  • Mohawk Valley: Mine Kill State Park Pool
  • Southern Tier: Watkins Glen State Park Pool
