According to the NYPOST, Zoomers stated that those who used the thumbs up emoji were being "rude", "hostile" and even "dismissive". They even felt attacked when it was used in the workplace. This began on Reddit.

The Hudson Valley voted and said that they would still continue to use this emoji regardless of what a generation recommends. They also stated they would use other finger emojis in addition to the thumbs up to express how they felt.

Along with the thumbs up emoji, there has also been a recommendation to cancel other emojis as well.
