Goals for Hope Soccer Tournament Returns After 5-Year Hiatus

With the Women's World Cup heavily under way, this is a perfect time to bring some attention to an incredible local soccer tournament that is scoring goals for Breast Cancer.

Miles of Hope is excited to announce the date for the 16th Annual Goals for Hope Soccer Tournament! The event will take place on Sunday, August 6th at Stringham Park in Lagrange, NY.

Goals for Hope is a women’s and men’s soccer tournament with several divisions of various competitive levels, with a mission to raise funds for the Miles of Hope Breast Cancer Foundation.

After a five-year break, the Goals For Hope Tournament will return with a total of eighteen (18) teams in four (4) divisions. They welcome new teams as well as returning teams that have been participating in Goals for Hope for sixteen years. They will have players take the field in age ranges from 18-70 years old!

Miles of Hope Breast Cancer Foundation

The Miles of Hope Breast Cancer Foundation is a 501c3 not-for-profit organization founded in March of 2003.  Since its inception, the Foundation has donated over $2,800,000 to people in the Hudson Valley affected by breast cancer.  Some examples of programs the foundation supports include: scholarships for college-bound students whose lives have been affected by breast cancer, peer-to-peer counseling, alternative medicine, and financial assistance through the medical gap care program which provides financial grants to individuals experiencing a life crisis while being treated for breast cancer.  This program covers expenses like transportation, rent, utilities, medical co-pays, and much more.

Goals for Hope's Comeback Year

The Goals for Hope event has received overwhelming support from the community for their "Comeback" year. This year's event will consist of their traditional opening ceremony with the National Anthem sung by former American Idol contestant Alison Elena. There will be a raffle table including items signed by US Men's National Team Captain Tyler Adams, as well as Miles of Hope and Goals for Hope merchandise.

Afterwards, they will have the Goals for Hope mid-day ceremony at 12:15 pm to Celebrate Survival. The tournament will welcome honored guest speaker and Miles of Hope co-founder Cathy Varunok.

This event is a true family-friendly community day with a focus on supporting the women and families affected by breast cancer in the Hudson Valley.
