A new mecca for any self respecting Golden Girls fan has opened and it's just a quick ride from the Hudson Valley on Metro North to get there. Located in Washington Heights, Rue La Rue Cafe has everything a Golden Girls super fan is looking for.

According to the New York Times, co-owner Michael J. LaRue envisions the establishment as 'a museum with good food.' He became executor of Rue McClanahan's estate when she passed away in 2010. Before her death she requested that a place be made available for fans to see her extensive collection of items from the show.

Having gone off the air more than 25 years ago, the show still has a loyal following thanks to reruns on TV. Hulu just recently acquired streaming rights so you don't have to miss a single episode.

The restaurant was formerly a pet store and construction took about a year. Attention to detail was a huge factor, right down to the pink bathroom tiles.

You might want to call ahead if you're going to make the trip to the city.
