A Hudson Valley teen allegedly driving drunk crashed his car, killing a local man while seriously injuring three others.

An Ulster County grand jury charged Abram Almahri, 19, of New Paltz with four counts of aggravated vehicular homicide and assault following a fatal accident in March, officials announced on Friday.

An investigation by the New York State Police revealed that Almahri was operating a 2008 Volvo when he failed to stop at a stop sign and collided into the rear of a 2012 Toyota Scion on March 29 around 10:30 p.m. on Henry DuBois Drive in New Paltz, police say.

A passenger in Almahri's car, 25-year-old Jade Randazzo of New Paltz, was killed in the crash. Two other passengers in Almahri's car, Walter Morales-Duarte and Jacob Davis both of New Paltz, and the driver of the Toyota, Charlie Rodriguez from Highland, suffered serious injuries.

Police allege Almahri’s blood alcohol content was more than twice the legal limit at the time of the crash.

According to the Ulster County District Attorney's Office, the Grand Jury found Almahri engaged in reckless driving while having a blood alcohol content of .18 or higher, which resulted in the death of Randazzo. The Grand Jury further found that Almahri’s reckless driving while intoxicated caused three other people to sustain serious physical injuries.
