If the store you grocery shop at every week doesn't have one, you should change stores.

The most random things happen to me almost every time I'm grocery shopping. I've been screamed at by an old man for going down the aisle the wrong way back at the beginning of the COVID pandemic, remember that awful idea...LOL! I've had a lady yell at me for picking apart bananas to only get the ones that I wanted. I've screamed about having to pay a quarter to use a grocery cart.

The common theme here, if you haven't picked up on it yet, is that these things are all negative things. So when something positive happens grocery shopping, I have to write about it. So I normally do most of my grocery shopping at the Stop & Shop in Poughkeepsie. Over the holiday break, I was spending time at a friend's house in Wappingers Falls and decided while I was there that I was going to grab a few things at the grocery store.

The closest store to her house is the Hannaford's on route 9, so I headed in to grab a few things and while I was checking out, something happened to me that has never happened before and it made me feel like I won a prize.

I'm standing in the cashier lane with an actual cashier doing the scanning and as she's scanning my things, I looked up at the computer screen and noticed that she scanned my coffee creamer and it said it was $7.99. I thought about it for a minute and said to her that I think that rang up wrong because I think it's only $3.99. She stopped and looked at it and said she thinks I'm right.

She called her manager over and after they talked about it for a minute, the manager told me that it scanned wrong, and because it did, I was going to get the item for FREE and they were going to credit me a dollar on top of it.

WAIT, WHAT? I'm getting it for FREE and you're giving me a buck too? Yes, she said that's the store policy. Have you ever heard about a store having a scanning policy? I never have until now and have to say, I was pleasantly surprised how they handled it. Well done Hannaford! I do know that I will now be paying way more attention to the price of things while they are being scanned because you never know.

Does the store you shop at have the same type of policy? If they do, text us through the Wolf app and we will be sure to mention them on air.
