It's sad news this morning for GWAR fans. The metal world has lost another crazy brother. The GWAR founder and frontman Oderus Urungus, Dave Brockie by his human name, has been found dead in his home by a roommate on Sunday (23rd) evening. It was only just a few days ago that the band announced the 5th annual GWAR-B-Q which included an insane lineup including fellow Richmond, Virgina band, Municipal Waste. Vocalist Tony Foresta wrote on Instagram, "I'm so devastated right now. One of the most fun, brilliant, inspirational and creative people I've ever had the privilege to call a friend has passed. I'm going to miss you so much, pal."

Already many are taking to social media to pay their respects.

Randy Blythe of Lamb of God, another Richmond band, said on Instagram, "I got a very sad call tonight from my buddy Chris Bopst, who was one of the original members of GWAR. My friend Dave Brockie, a.k.a. Oderus Urungus, the singer of GWAR, has left the building and taken off back to his home planet. He was 50 years old."

An official statement from GWAR's management is expected early this afternoon.

GWAR, a band known for their out-of-this-world stage performances and at times offensive and disgusting. This video below, a great representation of it all.
