Hay Is For Horses…AND RIDES! Hayrides Around The Hudson Valley
Fall in the Hudson Valley wouldn’t be complete without a good ol' hayride. Whether you’re looking to entertain the kids, take in the views, or feed some farm animals, these five Hudson Valley spots are where you’ll want to head this season:
Formerly Maples Farm, Dogwood Acres offers a charming hayride through the woods. One of the main highlights? You get to stop and feed carrots to their Highland cows, which is an experience in itself. Then, the ride continues to their pumpkin patch, where you can pick the perfect pumpkin. They’ve got pettable farm animals too, just in case you need some extra fluffy fun.
Fishkill Farms keeps it simple and fun with free hayrides Friday through Sunday (maybe more days—check their calendar!). While you’re there, grab some apples, check out the chickens and sheep, and maybe stop by their farm store for a tasty treat.
Headless Horseman (Ulster Park)
For a little Halloween fun, Headless Horseman Hayrides and Haunted Attractions’ Children’s Day is a must. These kid-friendly hayrides offer a tamer version of their famous scares, with plenty of Halloween magic along the way. Mark your calendar for October 5th and 19th if you’re looking for a “tiny taste of terror” for the little ones.
At Muscoot Farms, hayrides are tractor-pulled and take you on a peaceful 30-minute trip through their back hayfields. While the rides are scheduled, you can often pair them with a guided or self-guided farm tour for a full day of farm exploration.
Kesicke Farm Fall Festival (Rhinebeck)
Kesicke Farm offers hayrides as part of their fall festival fun. Enjoy a ride through the corn maze, visit the farm animals, and don’t miss out on their famous apple cider donuts!
Hayride season is officially on!
