Watching horror movies on Halloween is one of the most classic ways to celebrate the holiday. Hudson Valley residents, however, can take it to a whole different level.

Luckily for fans of Halloween, that includes plenty of scary content.

One of the creepiest movies in recent memory is the horror movie Smile, which made a splash with its exceptionally-eerie (and award-winning) marketing campaign that saw paid actors in the middle of a public settings with terrifying grins on their faces. The sequel, Smile 2, was filmed in several areas of the Hudson Valley, including Wappingers Falls in Dutchess County.

Other recent films include the horror movie Things Heard and Seen, the sci-fi/thriller Companion, and the dark comedy Oh, Hi!. Check out more movies and television shows filmed in the area below.
