"My favorite kind of traffic", a local resident recently posted on Facebook. The traffic in question is caused by a very special tradition that happens twice a day at Rocking Horse Ranch in Highland, NY.

The lines of cars on Route 44 are caused by one of the most intriguing sights in the Hudson Valley: a horse crossing (below). Each day, Rocking Horse Ranch staff move a large number of horses from their overnight stables to the resort, where they'll be ridden by guests. Here's when to catch the show.
When to See the Horse Crossing at Rocking Horse Ranch in Highland, NY
Anecdotally, the crossing guards are usually in their positions by 8:15am on weekdays, with the crossing happening roughly at 8:20. "I was 1st in line twice", bragged another resident on Facebook. "I could not believe how beautiful [the horses] were."
