2020 has certainly taught us a lot of things. Though we all have had different experiences, we can agree that standing together and being there for one another is important. It was great to see how during tough times, we came together as a community. We gained strength from our neighbors and friends reminding us that we always have someone to lean on. The holiday season is also a reminder of the good and joy in the world. If you look deep enough, you can see the magic and love behind the holiday season.
I loved seeing the amount of support that local businesses received during the year. We can shop local this holiday season and also give super thoughtful gifts to our loved ones. I’ll guide you through a meaningful shopping holiday guide that includes gift ideas from local businesses.

• Gifts from local, holiday fairs or markets

Local holiday fairs and markets allow folks to shop around and buy things that are at lower price or homemade. I love browsing through these buildings and getting ideas for my friends and family. Locally made gifts are unique and usually one of a kind.

• Local farms, florists

I got the idea of giving fruits and veggies as a gift this holiday season from my neighbors. They brought over goodies from a local farm and it was freshening to munch on some healthy snacks especially around the holidays. The gift of flowers can instantly put a smile on anyone’s face. The beauty of flowers and smell of fresh cut roses are therapeutic. Be sure to shop at local farms and florists this holiday season.

• Gift cards to local restaurant or shops

I find such joy in visiting one of my favorite bakeries and coffee shops once a week. I also love heading to my favorite Italian and Mexican restaurants on the weekend. You could get someone the gift of brunch or dinner on you. Grab a gift card for the person on your shopping list to buy themselves a new shirt or piece of jewelry from a local shop. If you know someone who also enjoys spas or visits a nail salon, those are always good ideas of supporting local business and buying a thoughtful gift.

• Online or in person classes

I love to think outside the box for gift ideas. You could find a local club or class that would fit the person whom you are buying the gift for. You could also choose between an in person or online class as well. This could include art, dance, workout or craft. Personally, I would love it if I received a gift card for local yoga classes.
How will you be supporting local business during the holidays? There are plenty of shops, restaurants and businesses that can provide us with some of the best gifts for everyone on our list.
