Hudson Valley Animal Control Officer Charged With Sexually Abusing 15-Year-Old

A 50-year-old Hudson Valley Animal Control Officer was arrested for allegedly sexually abusing a 15-year-old.

Port Jervis Police say the arrest is the result of a several month investigation. 50-year-old Robert J. Murray Jr., of Port Jervis is accused of having sexual relations with a 15-year-old minor in 2015.

Murray was charged with 3 counts of 3rd-degree rape, 3 counts of 1st-degree disseminating indecent materials to minors, 3 counts of 3rd-degree criminal sexual act, 3 counts of luring a child, all felonies, and 3 counts of endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor.

Murray is employed as an Animal Control Officer with the City of Port Jervis. Official say he has been placed on administrative leave pending further proceedings.

Murray was arraigned in Port Jervis City Court Judge and remanded to Orange Jail in lieu of $15,000 cash bail. He’s due back in City of Port Jervis Court on April 18.
