Stewart’s Shops and Dygert Farms Shine

At this year’s New York State Dairy Products Competition, Hudson Valley dairies have made a notable impact. Stewart’s Shops clinched gold awards for Best Fluid Milk, Chocolate Milk, and Flavored Milk, showcasing their exceptional quality across multiple categories. Additionally, Dygert Farms Creamery from the Hudson Valley earned a silver medal for its fluid milk, marking a strong presence in the competition.

Ice Cream Delights and Cheese Triumphs

In the ice cream category, Stewart’s Shops and Byrne Dairy continued their winning streak from last year. Stewart’s Shops received gold for their vanilla ice cream, while Byrne Dairy took gold in the Chocolate Ice Cream category and silver for their vanilla ice cream. The highlight from Hudson Valley, however, was Churchtown Dairy, which was named Grand Champion for its Coperthwaite Cheese, a prestigious accolade that underscores their excellence in cheese production.

Other Notable Winners

The competition featured 176 entries across 26 categories, with impressive performances from other regional and statewide producers. HP Hood, with plants in Arkport, Vernon, and Lafargeville, dominated with 13 medals, including golds in several categories such as Cottage Cheese and Sour Cream. Great Lakes Cheese from Adams won gold for both "Super" Aged Cheddar and Low Moisture Mozzarella, while BelGioioso Cheese was awarded gold in multiple cheese categories.

Honoring Excellence at The Great New York State Fair

Winners of the Dairy Products Competition will be celebrated during Dairy Day at The Great New York State Fair. The day will feature milk tasting, a milkshake contest, and a showcase of all award-winning products. Fairgoers are invited to experience the best of New York’s dairy industry and support the local dairy farms and creameries that contribute to the state’s rich agricultural heritage.
