Police say a Hudson Valley man stabbed a taxi driver and took off with the vehicle.

Yonkers Police say a 38-year-old livery driver from Yonkers picked up fare heading to North Yonkers. In the area of 1010 North Broadway, the suspect, the lone passenger in the car, stabbed the victim in the neck inside the vehicle.

The victim then fled the vehicle and ran into the emergency room of the nearby St. John's Hospital.

The suspect fled in the victim's vehicle, which was later located by patrol units unoccupied in the area of Saw Mill River Road and Dunbar Street.

Members of the Yonkers Police Department Detective Division began an extensive investigation which included looking at video surveillance and a number of interviews. The suspect, now identified as 62-year-old Pedro Estrada, of Yonkers was arrested Tuesday.

Estrada was charged with 1st-degree robbery and 1st-degree assault. He was remanded to the Westchester County Jail.
