This is something I would not want to run into.

I'm not a huge fan of snakes, to be honest I'm pretty terrified of them. I really don't like to see them when I'm swimming in the lake or when I'm walking around the Hudson Valley. However, I do understand and respect the fact that they have a purpose and a special spot on this earth. I just try to keep my distance as much as possible LOL

I was recently on Facebook the other day and came across a pretty crazy picture, it's almost not believable that it's real.

Where was a pretty big snake found in the Hudson Valley recently?

First, I sadly have to remind people to not harm or injure any snake here in the Hudson Valley. Second, I do have to admit that I would be pretty freaked out if I saw this snake and getting away from it would probably be the fastest I'd move LOL.

I reached out to the resident who posted the picture and the resident mentioned that they saw the snake in a pond near a development right here in Wappingers Falls.

This snake looks like something out of a zoo and it's pretty crazy to think it's slithering around Dutchess County.

Why are people in the Hudson Valley so afraid of snakes?

It makes you wonder though because when it comes up in conversation people usually mention that they are afraid of snakes too. I had a bad experience when I was a kid and I saw a HUGE one while I was trying to get the mail and never recovered.

There's actually a term for people who are afraid of snakes and it means you're suffering from ophidiophobia (having an extreme fear of snakes).

Are you afraid of snakes? Do you remember how it started and why?
