A Hudson Valley teacher continues to recover after he was seriously hurt in a gruesome attack by a shark.

In mid-August, 61-year-old William Lytton of Westchester was violently attacked by a shark while vacationing in Cape Cod. Reports say he was standing in shallow water about 30 yards offshore at Longknook Beach when he was bitten by a shark.

The SUNY Downstate Medical Center professor suffered serious injuries to his leg and torso. Last week Hudson Valley Post reported the 61-year-old's condition was improving and he was listed in fair condition at Tufts Medical Center in Boston.

Days later Lytton was upgraded to good condition and early this week the Scarsdale man was released from the hospital, according to Masslive. Hospital officials didn't say if he was sent home or moved to another facility, noting patient privacy laws.
