If you're going to illegally dump your trash on town property you might want to make sure your name and address isn't plastered all over the garbage.

The Goshen Highway Department called authorities from the New York Department of Environmental Conservation after finding trash on the side of the road. Piles of garbage were spotted in the woods that included tires, trash bags and even old furniture.

Officers from the DEC quickly found a big clue as to who the perpetrator could be. The home address of the potential culprit was plastered all over packages that were mixed in with the trash.

After visiting the address, the homeowner told authorities that her son was supposed to be taking the trash to the dump. Later, the son admitted to the DEC that he threw the trash in the woods because the transfer station was closed.

The man was given a ticket for unlawful disposal of solid waste, which carries a possible fine of $15,000 per day. He was also instructed to clean up the mess. The ticket is due back to the Town of Goshen Court next month.
