Each week on ‘In Touch’, our locally produced public affairs program, I have the pleasure of talking with individuals and organizations from all over the Hudson Valley. We focus on non-profit organizations and volunteers who are working hard to help make all of our communities better places to live, work, and raise our families.

This week, I got to welcome some good friends back into the studio to talk about all of the work being done to help senior citizens in the Hudson Valley. Brian Jones (whom I was lucky enough to work with for about 10 years here in our building) Outreach Coordinator of the Office for the Aging in Dutchess County, Judy Hearney: Co-Program Coordinator for A Matter of Balance with the Office For the Aging, and Ann Lancellotti: Co-Program Coordinator for A Matter of Balance with the Office For the Aging stopped by to talk about another powerful program the Office for the Aging has for area seniors..

As you listen to this week’s interview, keep in mind that while we spoke of the Dutchess County office, Brian pointed out that every county in the Hudson Valley has an Office of the Aging, so even if you don't know their number, you can call 845-486-2555, they'll get you all of the information you need.

We talked about what A Matter of Balance is, the scary statistics of falling and how we have it within our power to lower those numbers, this program is in 41 states and has helped over 100,000 people. It is a multi-component class for those over 65. The Office for the Aging even has a Brain Games program.  Per usual, my guests explain everything better than I could ever write, so without further ado, here's this week's In Touch.

If you, or someone you know, is involved with a non-profit organization here in the Hudson Valley and would like an opportunity to come on the show and talk about what is important to you. Please let me know, leave a message here or email me at beth.christy@townsquaremedia.com.
