Couple From Ireland Arrested in NJ, Indiana & NY

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement indicated that on February 15, 2023, Oliver Boswell, of Ireland, lawfully entered the US, however, he later violated the 'terms of his admission.' ICE reports that the now 36-year-old was arrested by the South Bound Brook Borough Police Department in NJ in May of 2023 (hindering-obstructing police), and then in August of 2023, he arrested by the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (battery).

Also during August of 2023, Boswell's wife, Kathleen McCarthy, a citizen of Ireland, lawfully entered the state and similarly violated her terms of admission.

McCarthy was arrested by the Ulster County Sheriff's Office in Kingston, on July 17th 2024 and charged with Class E felony possession of stolen property.

Ulster County Sheriff's Office Locates Transnational Fugitives

In a statement issued by the Ulster County Sheriff's Office, a Ford F150 was stopped in the Town of Ulster by sheriff deputies in July as the vehicle had been reported stolen from Enterprise Rent-A-Car, and the driver, 35-year-old McCarthy, was charged with possession of stolen property.

Following the arrest, Homeland Security Investigations contacted the Ulster County Sheriff's Office to inform them that McCarthy, along with her husband, Boswell, were wanted by the City of London Police.

Allegations indicate that the two were part of a 'transnational crime organization,' and wanted since 2018. Homeland Security reports that the couple was 'being sought for defrauding victims of more than £3 million pounds, which equates to close to $4,000,000, while ICE shared that the two were wanted for 19 counts of money laundering in the U.K.

The Ulster County Sheriff deputies, along with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security worked to locate Oliver Boswell as well as other members of the alleged crime organization, all in Ulster County. The couple, Boswell & McCarthy, were taken into custody by officers from U.S. Department of Homeland Security division of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement ERO (Enforcement and Removal Operations) on July 18th, and remain in custody pending removal proceedings.
