New iPhone on The Way

There's a new iPhone on the way and tech fans are excited.

The iPhone 17 series features several different types of upgrades from style features to  technology improvements. According to Apple, the iPhone 17s new design comes with contoured edges, a "brighter Super Retina XDR display," improved battery life and a new processors.

Apple adds that the overall user experience will improve. Siri will be smarter, Apple writes "Apple Intelligence provides an improved Siri experience, making the virtual assistant more capable and context-aware.

Additionally, there will be advanced safety features like "Crash Detection" and "Emergency SOS via satellite."  These features weren't available with older models.

And, of course, the new camera features will be noteworthy as they add "improved camera hardware, such as higher-megapixel sensors, and enhanced optical zoom, resulting in better photos and videos."

Needless to say, these new iPhones are going to be a hot commodity.

 Putnam County Police Warn of Porch Pirates

The iPhone 17 will officially be released on Friday, September 19th. Many iPhone users have to already pre-ordered their phones which means, it will show up on their door step any day now.

While the iPhone user will be patiently waiting for their package to arrive, so will porch pirates.

The Putnam County Sheriff's Office is warning iPhone users to be alert. In a statement on Facebook, Actin Sheriff Brian Hess wants to remind residents to stay alert.

Currently, there have been no related crimes in the area, Sheriff Hess explains "porch pirates often take advantage of high-value product releases and deliveries."

How to Protect Yourself From Porch Pirates

The statement goes on to give the community tips to keep their future deliveries safe.

Take a look at the following suggestions from the Putnam County Sheriff's Office:

- Be aware of your surroundings and watch for suspicious activity.
- If you witness a crime, try to safely note a description of the person, their vehicle, and the license plate if possible.
- Track deliveries and bring packages inside quickly.
- Consider secure delivery options or ask a trusted neighbor for help.
As always if you see something suspicious, report the activity to your local police department or call 911.
