Gigantic Electronic Recycling Event in Dutchess County, Here’s When
Dutchess County has opened registration for its first Household Hazardous Waste & Electronics Recycling Event of the year.
One thing I think many of us will be doing over the next couple of weeks is our yearly "spring clean" of our houses and garages. If this is something you are preparing to do or maybe you've already done it and discovered that you have a bunch of old electronics and maybe you discovered some old household hazardous waste that you aren't sure how to dispose of properly. If that's you and you live in Dutchess County a new event is scheduled to give residents a way to throw things like that away safely.
Dutchess County Household Hazardous Waste & Electronics Recycling Event
Dutchess County is holding the first "Household Hazardous Waste & Electronics Recycling Event" of the year on Saturday, June 1st from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The event will take place at the Dutchess County of Public Works Facility, located at 626 Dutchess Turnpike in the Town of Poughkeepsie, New York, and is open to Dutchess County residents ONLY! The county suggests any resident planning on recycling to access the event by taking Route 44 East to Burnett Boulevard.

Registration is Required
Every year this event is extremely popular with residents so this year a $10 pre-registration is required and will be limited to the first 400 households. Pre-registration starts May 1st and will reach capacity quickly so if you plan to recycle you can sign up online here or call 845-463-6020. This year the event will be first-come, first-served, and residents should expect to experience long wait times when they arrive at the location on June 1st.
Items Excepted
This year's event will give residents the chance to recycle old electronics like computer monitors, CPUs, fax machines, printers, TVs, stereos, telephones, and lithium & sealed lead acid batteries (no automotive!). Residents can also recycle products marked: Warning, Hazardous, Flammable, Poisonous, and/or Corrosive including lead-based paints (NO latex or oil-based!), stains, varnishes, flammable liquids, turpentine, strippers, thinners, gasoline/oil mixture, brake fluid, antifreeze, propane tanks, and much more. You can see the full list of permitted items and the items that are NOT allowed online here.
