
New York State Police Find Obscene Material at Hudson Valley School Teachers Home
The New York State Police have arrested a local high school teacher who was allegedly in possession of obscene material involving children.
The New York State Police (NYSP) have confirmed that they have arrested a 26-year-old school teacher from Liberty, NY, and charged him with multiple felonies.
Teacher Possessed Obscene Material in Liberty, New York
According to a NYSP press release, after a joint investigation, 26-year-old Christopher A. Dedonato, of Liberty, NY, was arrested on May 5th, 2025, on multiple felony charges related to the possession and promotion of obscene material involving children.
Liberty, NY Math Teacher Arrested
Dedonato, a high school math teacher in the Liberty School District in Sullivan County, NY, is accused of possessing and promoting images consistent with child sexual exploitation.

He was charged with seven counts of promoting an obscene sexual performance by a child under 17 years of age and possessing an obscene sexual performance by a child under 16 years of age.
Tip Leads to Arrest
Police said a cybertip from the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children led to the execution of a search warrant at Dedonato's residence in Liberty, NY, on April 22, 2025.
Liberty School Superintendent Dr. Patrick Sullivan said that Dedonato was placed on paid administrative leave since the police investigation began on April 22. Sullivan also said that the school doesn't believe that any Liberty student is involved and that the district is fully cooperating with the investigation.
"The safety of our students is our top priority," Superintendent Dr. Patrick Sullivan said. "We remind our students if they see or experience anything suspicious to report it to a trusted adult or through our Anonymous Alerts portal."
