Thrilling Horror Flick Filmed in Woodstock, NY is a Must Watch on HBO Max

Horror Movie Filmed in the Hudson Valley Trending on HBO Max

One would think we would be talking about a big movie like A Quiet Place, but one of the top movies on HBO Max is a smaller film made a few years ago.

While scrolling on HBO Max (or is it just Max now?) I saw that a movie called "It Comes at Night" was sitting pretty at the #5 spot on the Top Movies of the day on the streaming site every day for the last week.

The apocalypse-themed movie was released in 2017, but I knew I had heard the name before. That's because the horror flick was filmed right here in the Hudson Valley.

A quick synopsis of the film, which stars Riley Keough (Elvis' granddaughter) explains:

After a mysterious apocalypse leaves the world with few survivors, two families are forced to share a home in an uneasy alliance to keep the outside evil at bay -- only to learn that the true horror may come from within.

So yeah, it's not a fun film for the whole family.

It Comes At Night Filmed Around Ulster County in 2016

The end-of-the-world thriller played a part in the uptick of movie productions filming in the Hudson Valley. In 2016 the movie was filmed around Ulster County, mainly in the Woodstock, New York area.

While there are no specifics on where the woodsy, rustic cabin set was located, we could probably all agree that the woods of Woodstock make for the perfect horror movie set.
