The New York State Liquor Authority has immediately banned the sale and consumption of all alcohol on the premises of one of the longest-operating bars and restaurants on Main Street New Paltz, New York after an estimated 120 underage patrons were caught underage drinking last week.

One of the busiest and most popular college towns in New York is located right here in the Hudson Valley and like many college towns, New Paltz has been known as one of the Hudson Valley's best places to spend a night out with friends. Main Street is lined with numerous restaurants that during the day serve great food and at night cater to the party crowds from nearby SUNY New Paltz by offering music and "college-type" drink specials. Unfortunately, it appears that one of those bars has had its license to sell alcohol suspended after a "raid" last week.

New Paltz Bar Allegedly Served over 100 underage Customers

Last Friday, March 15th investigators from the New York State Liquor Authority (SLA), the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles, and Ulster County Sheriff's Department conducted a "compliance inspection" at P & G’s following numerous complaints of underage drinking. The compliance check often referred to as a "raid" went down at the restaurant and bar located at 91 Main Street in New Paltz after 9 p.m. Friday and uncovered that allegedly more than half of the patrons were underage according to a press release.

P & G's Liquor License Suspended

On March 21st the SLA held a full board meeting and ruled, effective immediately, that no alcohol may be sold or consumed on the premises saying, "The New York State Liquor Authority summarily suspended the license of M C & E D BECK INC, D.B.A. P & G's Restaurant at 91 Main Street in New Paltz." The ruling didn't specify the length of the suspension but did say it would start immediately.

We did attempt to contact P & G's Thursday evening but our call went unanswered. When more information becomes available we will update this article.
