New York is One of the Best States to be a Teacher
Is New York one of the best states to be a teacher?
One thing I think many of us can agree on is that many teachers in New York don't get paid nearly as much as they should. I'm not saying every teacher deserves more but many do and if you have a teacher in your life you are probably well aware that some won't agree with what a new study about "teacher-friendly" states revealed.
Best States to Be a Teacher
Teaching today's children has to be one of the hardest careers that someone can enter nowadays. Personally, I have a few teachers in my life, and understand that some say that they aren't paid well enough for what they are required to do on a daily, monthly, and yearly basis. I'm no expert and have no idea how to figure out how much someone should be paid but do know that a new study done by the folks at WalletHub reveals that New York is one of the best states for teachers.
Worst States to Be a Teacher
Before we get to how well New York did (below) in this recent study let's start with showing some compassion for any teachers working in states at the bottom of the top teacher list. Nevada, Maine, Hawaii, and the District of Columbia came in toward the bottom of the list with New Hampshire taking the last spot as the worst state for teachers. In order to complete the study WalletHub compared 50 states and the District of Columbia based on "24 key indicators of teacher-friendliness." Indicators include academic and work environment, income growth potential, and opportunity.

Top Five States to be a Teacher

At #5 is Florida followed by Washington at #4, Utah at #3, New York at #2, and Virginia at #1. Virginia got the highest scores and offers America’s educators the best opportunities and teaching environments.
New York Second Best State for Teachers
New York grabbed the #2 as it came in as the sixth-best state for opportunity and growth and the third for academic and work environment.
