A popular drive-in movie theater in Upstate New York is now offering a new Halloween attraction that might be worth the trip up north.

Halloween season has begun. Pumpkins, ghosts, and a variety of decorations have begun to take over neighborhoods across the Hudson Valley. Honestly, it's my favorite time of the year because I love the creativity, and who doesn't like a good scare, right?

If you enjoy Halloween like I do, you might want to plan a trip to Broadalbin, NY, because there's a local drive-in movie theater that has transformed part of its property into a haunted attraction.

The Ozoner 29 Twin Drive-In, located along State Route 29, has launched what they are calling Terror Behind The Screen, a new immersive Halloween experience that takes guests far beyond simply watching a scary movie.

New Halloween Attraction Opens At Upstate New York Drive-In

The haunted attraction takes place in the woods and fields behind the drive-in's upper movie screen in Fulton County, NY. Guests will start their experience with a scenic walk through the Adirondack wilderness, but don't expect that peaceful walk to stay peaceful for very long. Once you enter the attraction, you'll encounter scare actors dressed as spooky creatures, plenty of darkness, gore, and, of course, jump scares.

Lead coordinator Devin Wemple told WTEN that the goal was to create something that could scare horror fans while still being something families could enjoy.

Is It Too Scary For Children?

The attraction is being described as an R-rated Halloween experience, although children are allowed to attend as long as they are accompanied by an adult. They'll even offer glow sticks to families. If you see someone walking through the attraction carrying one, the actors will know to tone things down a little.

I actually love that idea because there's nothing worse than taking a younger kid to a Halloween attraction and realizing about 30 seconds in that you may have made a terrible parenting decision.

You Can Watch A Horror Movie Afterward

The fun doesn't end once you make it through the haunted woods. After surviving Terror Behind The Screen, guests can stick around the drive-in and watch a horror movie on the big screen. There will also be an artisan craft fair bazaar where visitors can check out Halloween-themed and handmade items.

The attraction will run every Friday and Saturday through Halloween, with the 15-minute tours beginning at 6:30 p.m. and continuing through 10:30 p.m. Tickets are already on sale, and organizers recommend arriving about 15 minutes before your scheduled tour time. Tickets cost $35.

So if you've been looking for a Halloween attraction that isn't your typical haunted house, this one might be worth checking out. Just don't blame me if you spend the entire walk through the Adirondacks wondering what exactly is hiding behind the next tree.
