Police Reveal New Details After Reported Shooting at Ulster County Motel

A heavy police presence at an Ulster County motel Monday afternoon had many people wondering what was going on.

Ulster Police have now released new details about the incident, which was initially reported as a shooting.

According to the Ulster Police Department, officers were called to the Sunset Park Motel on Stoll Court at approximately 12:51 p.m. on Monday, July 6th, 2026, after receiving a 911 call reporting that someone had been shot.

When officers arrived, they located one victim who had been apparently assaulted. That person, who wasn't identified, was taken to Health Alliance Hospital in Kingston for treatment.

Interestingly, police say investigators have not located anyone who suffered a gunshot wound, despite the original 911 report. Exactly what happened remains under investigation as detectives continue to piece together the events that unfolded at the motel.

At this point, authorities have not released information about the victim's condition, whether anyone has been taken into custody, or what may have led to the incident.

The good news for nearby residents is that police believe this was an isolated incident. Investigators say there is no ongoing threat to the community at this time.

It's not uncommon for initial emergency calls to change as first responders arrive on scene and begin investigating, which appears to be the case here. While the original report involved a gunshot victim, police say their investigation has not uncovered anyone who was actually shot.
