Two Hospitalized After Crash on Route 9 in Poughkeepsie
A nasty accident on Route 9 in Poughkeepsie, NY brought traffic to a standstill and sent two people to the hospital with serious injuries.
Afternoon commuters who were driving on or around Route 9 in Poughkeepsie near the Poughkeepsie Galleria on Tuesday saw themselves stuck in traffic for almost three hours after a nasty car accident.

According to the Town of Poughkeepsie Police Department, they are currently investigating a two-car crash that took place on South Road (Route 9) on Tuesday afternoon are are looking for the community's help to piece together what caused the accident.
What Happened?
Police said that the initial investigation has determined that at approximately 2:45 p.m. on Tuesday, November 5th, two cars collided at the Galleria Drive intersection by the AT&T store and Vitamin Shoppe exits just south of Foam & Wash on South Road (Route 9).

Police said that a 2016 Honda sedan being driven by a Poughkeepsie woman was traveling northbound on South Road (Route 9) when it collided with a 2013 Audi sedan. The Audi, which was being operated by a Fishkill woman, was heading west as she exited the AT&T and Vitamin Shoppe parking lot onto South Road.
According to police, both drivers sustained potentially serious injuries as a result of the crash and were taken to nearby hospitals to be treated.
Route 9 Reopened
South Road was closed from the time of the crash until 5:39 p.m. when it was reopened to traffic. The New Hamburg Fire Department and Empress Ambulance Services assisted the Town of Poughkeepsie Police at the accident scene.
